Monday, 12/16

The Breeders at Beachland Ballroom & Tavern

““It was a mere 40 minutes long, but the Breeders’ Last Splash made huge waves in the pool of our ’90s consciousness. In fact, it’s still lounging out there on its floaty, with strawberry daiquiri firmly in hand, showing all the fresh young cabana boys and girls how to do it. It’s been 20 years and that shit still sounds fantastic.” – PORTLAND MERCURY The Breeders’ Last Splash 20th Anniversary tour continues with another wave of tour dates being added to close out 2013. Following a stint in Australia at the end of October, Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Jim Macpherson and Josephine Wiggs will return to the United States for a batch of new dates. As was the case earlier in the tour, the band will continue to play their landmark album, Last Splash, in its entirety.”

VTR’s Incredible Jazz Trio at the Velvet Tango Room

G4Shi at the Grog Shop

“G4shi is one of the freshest artists on the New York Hip Hop scene. Gashi is unique, and to his fans, it’s no surprise that his flow is impeccable and each and every line carries a story of its own. Though born in Africa, Gashi’s family originally fled the war-torn Balkans as refugees, faced between life and death.”

Major League at Mahall’s 20 Lanes

“Major League are a pop punk band from New Jersey. They’re five guys doing what they love, playing pop punk. Hailing from Mullica Hill, New Jersey, they formed back in May of 2007.”

Friday, 12/20

The Lighthouse and the Whaler at the Grog Shop

“The Lighthouse and the Whaler plays indie-folk-pop and does not believe that genre labels tell you anything you need to know about a band. It has nevertheless caught the attention of MTV, Fuse, FILTER, Spinner, Under the Radar and other media outlets that cater to indie-folk-pop music fans.”

Cleveland Orchestra Christmas Concert at Severance Hall
